Goal Zero has recalled about 46,200 YETI 3000X portable power stations because the circuit board can overheat and ignite, which poses a fire hazard and a risk of serious burn injuries or death.

Goal Zero said it received 4 reports of the power stations catching on fire, overheating and smoking due to issues with the circuit board. No injuries were reported.

The company is urging customers to immediately stop using the power stations. The YETI 3000X was sold at REI and online at Costco.com, Backcountry.com, Goalzero.com and other retailers from May 2020 through August 2025 for about $3,000.

You can identify the recalled power stations by the name “Goal Zero” and “YETI 3000X” printed on a nameplate under the lid. They are silver and black, weigh about 92 pounds, have yellow handles, a digital display, electrical ports, 2 built-in wheels, and a telescoping handle.

Goal Zero is offering a free repair, which will consist of a firmware update that can be installed through the Goal Zero app. You can also request the upgrade directly from the company.

This is not Goal Zero’s only recall in recent years. In 2024, Goal Zero recalled Yeti Link expansion modules and EC8 power cables. There were 2 reports of the cables melting inside a vehicle, causing minor property damage.

And in 2025, Goal Zero recalled Solar Series Combiner cables after 2 reports of fires that resulted in property damage.

Consumers who own a YETI 3000X should stop using it immediately and install the firmware update through the Goal Zero app.
